rfactor.sfh.1998.reynard.hiresThe second NL.FR formula championship at Simracing.NL crosses the atlantic. The Reynard factory supplies equal material to all the drivers in the dutch league, who will have to learn their way around the unfamiliar North American tracks on the calendar. The first of eight races will take place on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and the season final takes place in Indianapolis.

Mid Ohio

Race 1

In a race that can only be described as a massacre, the first two cars are the only ones staying out of trouble. Wilfred van den Brink wins the race in front of Marcel Visscher, while Robin Verdegaal finishes in third with a damaged nose.

Long Beach

Race 3

From the fast and wide to the slow and narrow streets of Long Beach Street Circuit. This will be a culture shock for the drivers in the NL.FR.2 field.

Another roadcourse, another good result for SFH, who take the double in Long Beach. Wilfred van den Brink laps the entire field twice, Johan Nieuwenhof finishes second.

Fontana

Race 4

The fourth event on the NL.FR.2 calendar takes place on Fontana Motor Speedway. Wilfred van den Brink drives to first oval victory. After blasting everybody away in qualify, van den Brink drives a tactical race and attacks at the right time, leaving him and Marcel Visser in the leading lap in the final stages. Taking advantage of his superior speed, van den Brink is able to take his first oval win.

Championship

It’s clear that Wilfred van den Brink is the rightful season champion, with an honourable mention of John Oldenburg who surprised on the ovals and left the rest of the competition behind for second place in the final standings.
