The VRL Summer Trophy BMW 320s were unleashed at Mosport this weekend. SFH drivers Offermans and Verdegaal qualified 12th and 2nd on the grid. Championship runnerup Martin de Graaf took poleposition while leader Ricardo Michalewski struggled to get to terms with the Canadian track and started the race only in seventh place.

De Graaf was taken by surprise by Verdegaal’s rocket start and, despite his pace throughout the weekend, had trouble making the pass on the backstraight. After a terrific pass around the outside of Corner Eight, de Graaf lost his position again in the next lap’s backstraight draft battle. The decisive pass came in lap 5, when Verdegaal almost lost the car in Corner Three. Both cars touched and Verdegaal was sent onto the grass. Keeping his car out of the barrier he was able to continue in second place.
Meanwhile, Offermans was on a charge through the field. By lap 19 he had made it to sixth place with his late stop strategy. After his stop, with three laps to go, he made the pass for eighth place on Steven Moerman, bringing the second SFH car in in the top ten.
De Graaf takes over the lead in championship. Michalewski falls back to third behind Verdegaal, who is making a silent comeback in the standings after several unfortunate races.
