In the hot summer race on Zandvoort the question was which Dutch driver would win their home grand prix. Three dutch drivers, all of them championship leaders at some point, had their eye on this podium. Current leader de Graaf had shown disappointing pace in the weekend, and wasn’t able to follow Verdegaal’s pace. Neither was Michalewski, the third contender. Of the Flamish side, current league champion Vanhee showed that a Dutch win wasn’t going to be taken for granted.

Having another great start, Verdegaal made the best of his poleposition and took the lead in the early part of the race. De Graaf couldn’t hold on to second place in the sprint to the Tarzan corner, and had to let Michalewki go. The second SFH car, driven by Offermans, started from the other end of the grid, and would finish last after a disappointing race.
De Graaf and Michalewski had an exciting race for second place. In the tenth lap de Graaf finally made the decisive pass and immediately drove fastest lap. It was not good enough to catch Verdegaal who had opened up a small gap by that time, which would last until the finish. Taking valuable points for fastest lap however, he prevented Verdegaal from coming too close in the championship standings.
