Mid Ohio

rfactor.sfh.bmw.320.turbo.hiresFor the second VRL event with the BMW 320s, the league moved to Mid Ohio for a 30 lap race. Rookie contender Martin de Graaf took poleposition in front of Robin Verdegaal. No surprise given de Graaf’s speed throughout the weekend. Marcel Offermans started the race from 12th position. But de Graaf wouldn’t have an easy victory.

When the flag dropped, de Graaf failed to make the best of his poleposition. Verdegaal took P1 into first corner, but the heat was on. Offermans had an easy start but kept his nose clean. De Graaf pushes until Verdegaal, who was running on the edge just to keep in front, made a mistake after Jump corner. Spinning onto the grass, he only barely managed to hang on to second place in front of rookie Nick Beckers, who was showing good speed this weekend.

While Offermans made a steady advance through the field, Verdegaal had a lot of track action after his early stop. An incident with a backmarker didn’t stop him to drive back up to second place. De Graaf won the race, Beckers took the last step of the podium. Offermans finishes in eighth place, making up four places from his grid position.
